2009 for me was tumultuous, eventful, emotional, and all in all... pretty great. All's well that ends well right? It was certainly a better year than the one the preceeded it. Here's hoping it will just continue to get better next year. I feel like I have quite a bit in store for me.

So, I figure this cat is already out of the bag, but I'm not returning to FIT next semester. I'm not entirely sure what I will do or where I will go, but I've applied to a few programs. Until I figure it out, I plan on assembling a new portfolio. I feel like I haven't really been given the chance to develop my own style. After five semesters of tunnel-visioned professors and projects, I've completely lost track of what I would actually like to do. I've always been assigned to very specific markets and fabrics. If you asked me right now what I would design if I could design any type of clothing I wanted, I would have no idea what to tell you. All I know is that I don't want to pursue a career in designing snowboarders' long-johns, which currently makes up the majority of "my portfolio." WHY? I mean, I literally designed a whip this semester to accessorise a lingerie collection. Completely ridiculous. My new years' resolution will be to hone in on something I really enjoy and assemble a book that makes sense.

Anyway, happy late holidays!

Thanksgiving

Can we talk about how good my Thanksgiving was? I actually had two successful Thanksgiving meals, one with friends in Brooklyn, and one with my family. My immediate family hopped in a minivan, and I hopped on a bus, and we all met in Virginia where a small percentage of my extended family lives. I only got to see them for less than 24 hours before I had to get on the bus again, but it was well worth it. Here we are having a happy and beautiful and fully functional family day:

My family recently had an addition in October. This is my niece, Olive.
Pumpkin bars, pumpkin pie, homemade caramel, key lime and white chocolate cheesecake, blueberry tart, chocolate Oreo mousse, banana cream pie, and coconut cream pie. This is only the desserts, so you can imagine what the main menu was like.

My cousin Sophie and the blanket I crocheted her when she was born. I'm glad to see it so well-used.

I don't see them nearly enough.

Right, so by popular demand (3 votes?) I'm doing this thing again. Recap on the years of useless info I deleted some time ago:

Rural Iowa teenager shenanigans. Lots and lots of those. Moved to New York City after highschool. Fashion Institute of Technology. Armani. Chelsea. Moved to Bed-Stuy. Bad Times. Forced out of Bed-Stuy. Moved to Sunnyside. Better times. Crazy landlord shenanigans. Moved to Greenpoint. Great times. Converse design room. Too many strange jobs to list. Lots of indecisive and resltess talk about my future. Have a cat photo or two:

Really that's about it.
